I hit on something while riding (a thought, not a pothole.)

I used to "need" all kinds of things to spice up my life.

But today, it hit me: when I am riding, I am strangely fulfilled, as if I needed very little, maybe just drink, food and a nice shower and bed (and BikeForums...dot-net.) ;)

I would not have believed that cycling could fill my "empty spot" so completely. It's as if I am being lifted into a world of satisfaction.

And the best part: I didn't get a receipt for it!

;)

Riding does that to me too. Especially when I'm in the range with 40-100km ridden. That is something special.

I agree. On days when I ride, even a little ways, it takes less to make me feel contented. So the riding must convey a good deal of satisfaction, in itself.

Yes, it's funny, I used to have a complex recreational life, with backpacking, XC skiing, bagpipe bands, plastic modeling, comic book collecting, target shooting, etc., etc. But now all I need to do is swing a leg over a bike to achieve bliss. This has simplified my life!
