Registration is open. Who's going (seriously)?

I'm in. Registering was mentally harder than I thought. Looks like I need to start acting like a bike racer now.

I'm extremely jealous to the point of being willing to contribute $10 to your hotel costs if you promise to provide daily correspondent reports.

The missus couldn't get work off, so I'll be staying in my car.

I anticipate by the end of the race I'll be smelling like pickled bratwurst.:(

I'd like to go, but as a Cat 2 I don't think I'm ready for 6 days of racing with the pros.

If my early season goes really well I'll reconsider.

I'm definitely in for Cascade though since I can race 35+.

That should go nicely with Barbara Walters covered in steak and green beans.

I believe I'll be severely outdone in the 3's, but I guess it'll be a good learning experience.

Well, she is second place in the polls...

I'm sure you'll do fine. Just try to hang on on the hilly road stages and dominate in the TT. :D

Is this an omnium race?

Is this an omnium race?

Not an omnium - it is a timed stage race. I don't know if there are finishing bonuses or bonus sprints.

I am planning to ride it in the 3's (and probably get whooped), but I haven't fully cleared it with my wife yet, so I haven't registered yet.

Hmmm....if you're gonna go through the hassle of sleeping in yer car, why not just rent a campsite and bring a tent?

I'm registered in Cat 3. 3 months to get ready to get crushed by Cypress.

Vino - what about you are you doing Mt. Hood?

I don't know... It's been a rough winter so far. Maybe "heavily smothered" as opposed to "crushed".

Matter of fact, I have zero expectations for this race. It scares the hell out of me actually.

Yep. 85% certain I'll go as a 3, that looks like the best call for a chance at upgrade points to 2. The 40+ is pretty vicious. Planning it out with the team, we're trying to get 3 other guys to commit.

Hood's not scary. This is scary:

Mt. Hood classic has the stage profiles posted. I think it makes Gila look like a Central Park recovery ride.

For Cat 3 men:
Stage 1 - 66 miles, 7150 ft of climbing
Stage 2 - 18.5 mile ITT, 1950 ft. climb, heading west in through the Columbia River Gorge. This is the wind surfing capitol of the lower 48 because of the very regular 20 - 30 mph westerlies in the spring and early summer. Hope for an early morning start time before the winds pick up.
Stage 3 - 86 miles, 9200 ft of climbing - ouch more than 1000' per 10 miles is damn hilly.
Stage 4 - 30 min. crit with a downhill into a gnarly 120 degree right hand corner.

I wonder if I can get my registration fee back? I am scared. I think its time to get some lighter wheels.

Vino, is there any race you haven't done besides the Tour de France?

Right on Cyp. Have at it. Just don't overtrain because of the ensuing freak-out. Stick with your program.

+1 Train steadily Cypress. About 5 weeks out start hitting it with the VO2 stuff. You will be fine.

Just a note Pizza Man - Mt. Hood has a 35+ category this year and a whole lot of climbing. (mthoodcyclingclassic.com)

I'm so scared of this race from what my buddies have told me about it. Maybe next year I'll try the 4's, wouldnt want to go up to three's right before that thing..

I'm shooting for this once I hit 35. got some years to get ready. 2 guys from Portland on my team are doing it as 3's. It's a super hilly race and expectations are low unless you are 150 lbs. Also known to be rainy. Elkhorn is a great first time stage race if you can take the heat.

Hey PedalMasher - what team are you on? I'll be doing the 3's - I ride with Bridgetown Velo. I'm really dreading this race, but in a good way.

I'm in for the 3's. Rented a condo 1 block from the crit site. Two pounds a week and I'm well under 150 for the start, hungry and in a bad mood.

After a few of the death march races this year my only fear is peaking too early and having the wheels come off. Let it rain. Let it snow for that matter. Uglier the better.

If the wireless on the laptop works I'll post day by day feeds while the legs are up.

Hood is scary. Period. I was thinking of doing it this year but was dissuaded by some folks. It's a climbing monkeys dream. I would have destroyed myself and killed a good portion of the rest of my season.

hey cmh- jacob, that you?!

Cypress don't worry after a stage or two with no shower the rest of the group will blow themselves up trying to drop you, or they will just let you off of the front. Good strategy!!
