I am looking for another set of tire savers for my commute bike. The ones i have are starting to where thin.

Does anyone know where I can snag a set of these?

What does it do? Aside from rub the tire, causing added resistance and unnecessary wear?

:D Hello All

Oh! tire savers,near and dear to my heart. Use to use them back in the 70's
to keep sew-up clean. I still use them. I just rebuild them with, cut lenghts
of coat hanger. For the curved part I bend around a round tube of metal
tube. I have even at time, glued some small flexable semi-stiff brush on the
curved part, to sweep the ties.You can use any kind of wire, and the plastic tubing
is usally found, at some hardware stores. Hope that helps, also do a search
here, there was many posting about tire saver, a couple years ago......:D

Added resistance is next to nothing and I don't believe there is any tire wear. Getting virtually no flats is the goal. Makes commuting by bike a joy.

I think I was the one who posted a couple of years ago, trying to find these gadgets for my commuting husband.

If they are dragging on your tire, you have them installed incorrectly. They should hover just above the tire's surface, as close as you can adjust it to, not drag on the surface. They are used so if you pick up something in your tire, you won't roll over it again and really drive it in to cause a flat, especially if has not caused a flat already.

I don't think I found out where to buy any; a friendly Bike Forumite gave them to me.

used to sell them. i bought a set but they don't work on my crosscheck.

unfortunately i mangled them trying to get them to work...

maybe make your own? it is winter and you may be quite cold and bored??? ;)
