Commuting - Just won $100

Here in Georgia we have the "Clean Air Campaign" where you can log you commute alternative. They give you $3 per day for your first 90 days in the program (up to $180) and they have monthly drawings. I started in late September and I received $171 for my first 90 days (I skipped a few days), I won a $25 visa gift card another month, and now today I won the $100 visa gift card prize.

Oh and for Feb they giving away $25 target gift cards for the most frequent commuters in different catagories at work here and since I'm the only biker here it'll be another $25.

Not a bad haul.

It's an honor system. Plus in the contract you sign it reminds you that since it's a federally subsidized program if you cheat and you get caught it's a federal offence.

There was a guy here last year who won $10,000 from a co-worker who bet him he could not bike commute every day for a year!

Man, I just checked that out online and I am not eligible. I live in Bibb County Georgia(Macon) and that is outside of the 20 county Atlanta Metro area. Oh well. I was hoping to try this and earn some cash. It could have helped compensate the price of my bike.

I'm not eligible for the program. :cry: I work for the Atlanta Bicycle Campaign (non-profit) and we receive part of our funding from the Clean Air Campaign (http://www.cleanaircampaign.com).

For Atlanta area bike commuters: check with your employers about this and other "rewards" programs.
There are several other organizations that offer rewards (see the list below). Check with them for additional rewards. If you work OR live in their geographic area, you're eligible.

Anyone who works for the State of Washington should look into the Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) program that provides a $2/day subsidy for commutes other than single occupant car, such as Bicycle, Bus, car pool, walking. It takes a group of 100 potential participants to get started (my office had just over 100 employees with only 3-6 cyclists plus a handful of carpoolers/bus riders/motorcyclists who actually took part) but $2/day up to $120/quarter is a nice subsidy for our cycling addiction. We only started this in my office a few years before I retired but I found it worthwhile. Don

I'm part of the Clean Air Campaign also. I've one the $25 1 time in the past year. That was in June.
Have not won again since, but it made for some nice free lunches.

Yeah..during the summer you pretty much have to eat the air as its not very breathable :D

In 2002, 37 days exceeded air quality standards, while last year we experienced just 17 “bad air” days.
