The 2007 MMBA Annual Expo & Swap is Sunday, February 11th at Springfield Oaks County Park <http://www.co.oakland.mi.us/parksrec/ppark/springfield.html> in Davisburg (north Oakland County.) The event is free and open to the public.

Schedule

9 am
Blizzard Blaster Ride at Pontiac Lake - As in years past, it will start with a winter ride starting from the Pontiac Lake Recreation Area beach trailhead. All riding abilities are welcomed. The ride happens no matter what the conditions, though if the trail is soft and muddy, we'll stick to the nearby dirt roads.

10 am until 1 pm
Bike Swap Meet - Anyone can grab a table and display their stuff for a $10 donation to the MMBA. This is a great time to find deals on new or used equipment. Tables are awarded on a first come, first served basis.

10 am until 1pm
Expo area officially opens - Come visit the many vendor, organization, and MMBA chapters booths. You'll be able to find the sweet deals, latest trail updates, maps, and more.

Guest Speakers: Gary Fisher & Scott Linnenberger

Gary Fisher is presented by American Cycle <http://americancycleandfitness.com/> & Fitness. Their Royal Oak Store is sponsoring a Gary Fisher Look-a-Like contest. (That's the guy, not the bikes.)

To enter, just dress like Gary and stop in their Royal <http://americancycleandfitness.com/page.cfm?PageID=212> Oak location (29428 Woodward, just north of 12 Mile) on February 10th between 5pm and 9pm. The top three candidates will be chosen at the store. They should then attend the MMBA Annual Expo dressed like Gary and he will pick the winner up on stage. The winner will receive a valuable cachet of Gary Fisher-related schwag.

To help you get started, we've uploaded some photos of Gary from various times in his cycling career. They're on-line at http://www.mmba.org/gallery/looklikegary

If you'd rather dress like yourself on the 10th, you're still invited to stop in the store and chat with Gary. It's all free.

Scott Linnenberger is the Director of Field Programs for the International <http://imba.com> Mountain Bicycling Association, overseeing IMBA's Trail Care Crew, Trail Solutions, and National Mountain Bike Patrol programs, and developing the IMBA Representative and International networks. From 2004 through 2005, Scott acted as the Coordinator of the Trail Solutions program, a professional trails consulting program specializing in the assessment, design, and construction of incredible trails and trail systems. The Trail Solutions program annually designs almost 100 miles of trail and constructs another 20 miles, as well as providing trail master plans and education services. Prior to Trail Solutions, Scott toured with his wife, Aaryn, on one of the renowned Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crews.

Scott is a member of the Professional Trailbuilder's Association (PTBA) abd a representative for the National Trails Training Partnership.

Donations Wanted

Team Tree Farm <http://www.teamtreefarm.com/> will be at the MMBA Annual Expo collecting donated items for local charities. There will be a drop off for the donated items at the Southeast Chapter booth.

First they are collecting donated coats.

Second, they are seeking new and used-but-not-worn-out bike parts for Back Alley Bikes in Detroit. The donated parts will be used in their build-a-bike program for local youths. In this program, kids are taught how to repair a bike, fix a bike using the donated parts, and get to keep the finished product.
