Dear Friends:

I am organizing a Women Only Race Day at the ADT Event Center velodrome (Carson, CA) on Saturday, February 17th. Registration will start at 8:30 am, and racing will start at 10:00 am.

The race is open to all licensed female track racers who have been certified to ride the ADT. There will be fields for Juniors, Masters 40+, Masters 50+, Cat 4, Cat 3, and Cat 1/2 Women.

For complete information, check out this link:

So, why post a track race on the Road Forum? Because the best way in the world to improve your road racing is come out and train and race on the track. If you've never seen track racing, come check it out!! You just might find it's for you!!

didn't you mean: The race is open to all licensed female TRACK/ROAD racers who have been certified to ride the ADT?
to get certified you need to attend a 1 day class?

Most people who have a USCF license for the road or the track are licensed for both. being kind of new i guess I didn't notice that distinction. I guess I said "track" because in order to race you have to have a track bike.

Yes, in order to be certified at ADT, you have to have at least a minimum level of experience riding a bike, and take Roger's Class. for complete details, see

Put it this way -- I've had LOTS of offers to do "gender verification," but I'm just going to keep it simple. Whatever a racer has been able to convince the USCF to put on their license, that's what I'm going by. If Biting Duck can throw down a valid USCF license that says "Female," Biting Duck can race -- with or without the skirt.

Of course, Biting Duck is also the co-promoter of the race (a joint venture between the LA Velodrome Racing Association and my bike club), so if BD wants to race, I can hardly gainsay it.
