I am upgrading my breaking system on my bike and thought to ask you guys for your opinion... Shimano XTR 07 or Avid Juicy ultimate brake system? Anybody know of the (+) & (-) ?
Thanks

you are a XC rider I assume?
Well here is what I heard from another rider who owns a XTR (not 07) compare to Avid Juicy's :
1. Brake Pad problem
2. Doesnt modulate as good as Avid
3. Avid is a better choice.
Im always a fan of Avid brakes :D, I dont know anything bout the new Avid Ultimate or XTR 07 but Im very sure the Ultimate will retain or maybe improve all the good stuffs that Avid Juicy are known for, not sure bout the XTR though, sorry.
Between Avid and Shimano, I'd have to say Hayes.

Oh c'mon your just repping your sponsor.:p
What could you possibly say that is positive about the el caminos. They have very little power, terrible brake fade, and so-so modulation (not sure on the weight). Lets not even get into the 9s.
DON'T GET HAYES!

I've been very pleased with Shimano XT disk brakes. They are easy to install, quiet in use and stop very well. I imagine the XTR are lighter but work pretty much the same.
Oh c'mon your just repping your sponsor.:p Guilty as charged. It's what I do.

MMMmmm then I will probably install either the Hayes, Shimano or Avid !!!
If you plan on looking on eBay, pay attention to the Avid carbons. Most people want the sevens and accidently skip right over carbons with their search. I got a pair of new 2007 carbons cheaper than what most sevens go for.
