Take all shifters and cable off.I'm a spinner so I love low gears while this won't work for everybody,wrap your chain around the small front chain ring and 2nd biggest or 3rd biggest cog on the freewheel or cassette...now cut the cable stop about 3" and anchor in your barrel adjuster...wha-la adjust accordinly.I find that the latest bicycles have a reverse spring loaded rear derailluer and it is very easy to suck the screws up and re position on 3rd biggest cog on your cassette or free wheel.:p
