Touring - Faroe Islands
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I don't know what got me thinking about the Faroe Islands, but has anybody here ever cycled there?
I know they are small and compact and it rains a lot, and you can only ride on the roads, no trails, but I thought it might be fun to ride around the islands.
Bring your lights with you, there are many long, unlit tunnels, I hear (from LonelyPlanet). But I've sometimes thought about it, taking a ferry there from e.g. Denmark. That way one could throw Shetland in the mix if time permits. See http://www.smyril-line.com for ferry details.

Good roads in Shetland. And an active local cycling club.

Is there ferry service between the Shetlands and the Faroes?
See the Smyril line web link above. Their ferry visits both, I believe. I don't know if there are others.
