Businesses are starting to shut down here. This really isn't that bad of a snow for this area, this reminds of 9/11 all over again the way people are freaking out. Oh well, while the freeways and main roads are full of people slipping and sliding into each other, I'll just plod my bike along down the secondary roads and enjoy the snow. The rest of you all, be careful out there, hear? ;)
I hear you, chip. The weather stations hype this crap up way too much.

It's days like today that make winter fun...as long as you aren't driving. Riding home was nice, little traffic on the secondary roads for the most part, except for one 5 mile stretch where I, and a bunch of cars & trucks, were stuck behind an SUV doing like 10mph. This guy was just plain scared of driving in the snow - almost coming to a stop everytime traffic came from the other direction. So there I am, right behind the guy, on a bicycle. Finally, the guy stops to make a left and I pass on his right. I just couldn't help myself...for once instead of it being hollered at me from some driver, I did the hollering: "GET OFF THE ROAD!" :roflmao: :roflmao:

The snow is making travel difficult, but not impossible. I'm running a Kaizen event in the plant this week and I have to be there to cover at least a couple of hours for all 3 shifts. On top of that all of my vendors seemed to have planned trips to Wisconsin this week that they have now cancelled...net result I have a line at my door of people coming to see me because "they were in the neighborhood".
I think I may have lost my voice today. Tomorrow I get to scream all the way from Elgin to Wheeling and then back to Aurora before commuting back up to Elgin....for those outside of the Chicago area thats like 2-4 hours of driving on a normal busy day. Tomorrow it will be a nightmare.

UGH...Hodson's, every time I go in there to get something one of the guys who works there (not going to say who) tries to get in a pissing contest over something pointless. Indiana sucks at clearing snow and they cancelled our classes here at purdue for the first time in 19 years apparently...one of the bars had a line out the door at 4:30 and the rest were packed.
I still rode (played around in the snow) for like 2 hours on my fixie and went for a 50 min run.

When I got home, I had to park on a side road because the snow drifted over my driveway. I have a snow blower but it still took two hours just to clear it. Then I cleaned it again before going to bed and again this morning at 5:00 (probably pissed off the neighbors). It stopped snowing here but the snow is still drifting.

C'mon, now. Cheer up, camper. Who's up for a quick ride on the river path this evening? All you need is a wind vest and some armwarmers. You know Canoe-Boy will be out there in shorts and a t-shirt, so quit'cher kvetchin', yeah? :D
(btw... telecommuting rules all on weeks like these. :p )
The snowplow has buried my little truck and I don't even own a shovel (I live in a condo and they're supposed to take care of this). My boss wants to open the office today but the parking lot hasn't been plowed, the busses are running on a reduced route schedule, and everything in town is still closed. :(

Nice day to be working from home. On the down side, by the time I get all this snow shovelled, I'll probably end up having open-heart surgery rather than a ride on the bike. :(

I was thinking that I'm getting too old for this! My driveway is clear but the front of the house is buried. It's going to take awhile to get everything cleaned up.

They cancelled classes in January 1994. I remember because that when I started smoking, and drove to my grandmother's funeral in Peoria in a whiteout, broke a valve in our Buick Skylark, and missed the Purdue-IU B-Ball game that I had tickets to during Glen Robinson's last season.
The administration got PO'd because they cancelled classes and then everyone went out and sledded down Slater.
As for the line.....a line outside of Harry's at 4:30 just means they're slipping. :D

Is 4:30 too early to go ugly?

Yep, I'm thinking fondly of becoming a Southeastern rider! Key West is under consideration!;)

I bought a snow thrower after December's cloud wreckage kept me shoveling for six hours straight. I'm getting too old for that stuff! The last couple of snow episodes have been a blast!!! My new snow thrower cuts through the stuff like a hot knife through warm butter! Bring it on!

In SW Ohio, yesterday, we got another 3 inches on top of the foot of snow we got earlier this week. Good news is on the horizon. It is supposed to warm up a little more each day next week. By next weekend, they are forcasting high's in the 50's! I'll believe it when it happens.
In any case, it is going to take quite a while to melt this mess on the bike paths that I like to ride.

+1 - I put off getting one for a long time, but for the big snows they are worth every penny. I have been using mine much more this year.

You wuss. Your driveway is about 15 feet long.
You need to do more core stregthening.

From what my wife tells me it's not the length so much as the width.
BTW - it's at LEAST 25 feet long. I think that's the rule in the area that no part of the house can be closer to the road than 25 feet.

UGH!! It's here again. It looks like the top of Mt Washington outside today. The winds are insane and the snow is going sideways. The drifts on the leeward side of the fence are about four feet high. Thank goodness the rest is not piling up much.
March blizzards! Go away!!!
