i need some new pedals and i dont know which way to go sealed or unsealed what do u guys think?
FitRider 921

unsealed... sealed isn't worth the extra money

I much prefer Sealed but thats just because i save money. They run a lot smoother and spin less making no foot tricks easier. Also, they are easier to maintain and last longer. I feel that they are worth the money.
Get Jim C's by the way

Mosh Steps. Cheap, sealed, my next pedals.

We don't get mosh over here, i can't judge
FitRider 921
02-06-07, 04:41 PM
Haha. That sucks.
I rode my friends bike and he has the Jim Cilenckis (or however you spell it) i would get those there really nice and like $30 unsealed.

Gunz, don't you have Jim C's? I can't see why anyone would go with anything else after owning these, unless the other option was like over $100.

Nope, I have crappy second-hand Welgo's with all the pins missing. Before I ride again, I'm slapping on some new pedals. If I had good pedals I might not have broken my leg in the first place. Pretty much all of my pins are missing, and it's all like smashed up so you can't even replace them.

go w/unsealed that way when they're trashed you get new ones and you can get newer pedals sooner
i like the animal hamiltons they're $33 on danscomp

If you "trash up" sealed pedals, you can still buy new ones.

I have Mosh Steps...they're pretty cool and i got them for $15 like brand new. Except i had to change the shaft in the middle to a 1/2" because I have a 1-piece crank

mosh steps suck. get jim c's or hoffman sole mates.
FitRider 921
02-06-07, 08:07 PM
How do you know about Mosh Steps? Have you ridden them?
premiumbmx2005
02-06-07, 08:32 PM
in fact i have. and they were bent and just sucked.
FitRider 921
02-06-07, 08:38 PM
So you rode bent pedals? So, if you rode bent Jimmy C's they would be good? How can you judge a pedal if it's already bent? Do you have any more details? Like how it bent or something? I'm really looking into these pedals, so any info would be good info.

1. The kid was a fairly light rider, maybe 120 (but did case sometimes), and didnt ride hard
2. they suck even more because theyre essentially wellgo clones with sealed bearings.
3. im biased against the majority of mosh products
FitRider 921
02-06-07, 08:53 PM
but sealed bearings are nice and they seem to be pretty good for the price
wow, I can't believe I'm being positive for once

*sealed bearings are a scam. you dont need them. the only thing i can think of is that they dont wobble.
*for pedals

I only run sealed pedals.

02-06-07, 09:36 PM
I grind lots, never had a problem with the pedals.
It's harder to crush the bearings in sealed pedals then unsealed.
wethepeople
02-06-07, 09:40 PM
Some pedal grinds but I haven't gotten them dialed yet, mostly big double pegs and feebles, plus I've tried a few rodeo's.
I also do lots of stalls. Never had a problem.

02-06-07, 09:45 PM
I'm not sure, I would think they would come loose quicker but you can always tighten them, plus you can always rebuild them out of ****ty pedals.
premiumbmx2005
02-07-07, 01:31 PM
if you pedal grind theres no point in getting sealed pedals because you strip the pins and destroy the body.
FitRider 921
02-07-07, 02:12 PM
I don't pedal grind. So how 'bout them Mosh Steps... besides just saying they suck.
bikerdfresh
02-07-07, 02:19 PM
If you "trash up" sealed pedals, you can still buy new ones.
NO really? gee thanx captain obvious  i wz just saying that because the unsealed will get trashed sooner
premiumbmx2005
02-07-07, 03:03 PM
i think they would be okay for you...but they still suck
FitRider 921
02-07-07, 05:47 PM
But what do you mean by suck? Be more descriptive. Bad grip? Bad feel?
premiumbmx2005
02-07-07, 06:22 PM
in my opinion they feel too small. the grip is fine.

anyone know anything about the fly pedals?
premiumbmx2005
02-08-07, 01:21 PM
not even close to wellgo copies. super thin profile nice feel light weight.
FitRider 921
02-08-07, 01:28 PM
They are more of a copy of the Atomlab pedals... but chances are they copied someone too. Everything is a copy of something of else.

Unless patented. The odyssey stem is original
FitRider 921
02-08-07, 06:05 PM
Not necessarily. Macneil seat/post is patented... they just decided to sell their idea to other companies.
But yes, the Odyssey stem is original. I want it... badly.
im gonna go ahead and call you a tool for wanting it.
FitRider 921
02-08-07, 06:32 PM
what's wrong with wanting a part?
premiumbmx2005
02-08-07, 06:44 PM
i wouldnt mind an elementry stem either.
FuzzyRyder
02-08-07, 10:07 PM
I'm getting one when I can afford it.
MadMan2k
02-08-07, 11:16 PM
I don't like the look of the elementary, I'll just stick with the regular style stems.
wethepeople
02-08-07, 11:17 PM
I like my Fit Series 2, nice and clean.
FuzzyRyder
02-08-07, 11:25 PM
Mine slips sometimes. It dosent seem to have a very good clamping surface, and I keep it nice and tight. This is the only stem I've ever had a problem with acctually.
FitRider 921
02-09-07, 05:39 AM
Which stem?

in my opinion they feel too small. the grip is fine.
If you like Mosh steps you'd probly like the 1664 pedals. They are basically bigger Mosh steps. With huge pins.
Stem = S&M Redneck (any generation)

I've got an Elementary, no problems and it's light as ****. You've got to tighten it more than it says in the instructions though
FitRider 921
02-09-07, 01:37 PM
Well, you know it has plenty of clamping power. What other stems do you know that have problems of ovalizing bars?
premiumbmx2005
02-09-07, 02:06 PM
only the idiots ovalize the tubes.
eightdip
02-10-07, 03:29 PM
I have had three pairs of bars with the elementary and none have ovalised. If I have that problem, i'll tell you
