Has anybody had any experience with ti stems? I have not been able to get a straight story from the local bike shops. I have been told they make a lot of noise when stressed (ie: when sprinting), have too much flex, etc. I am looking for durability/strength and currently leaning toward the Moots ti stem but don't want to fork out the cash for something that is going to drive me nuts while riding. Any help is appreciated.

Titanium is known to squeak at times.. I doubt you will really notice any flex in it, it will absorb alot of the road vibration similar to CF. You can check titec.com out they have closeout on some titanium road stems, very limited sizes but they are only about $50.

i had a titanium stem on my bike for a couple of weeks. it squeaked like no one's business. hated the damned thing. swapped out for aluminum.

i love my ritchey pro (aluminum) riser stem i recently put on. it is light, doesn't squeek and has treated me fine so far.
