On thanksgiving last year I crashed my bike while going around a corner @ 25mph... I blacked out, so I don't know exactly what happened... I had some pretty deep bruises (which only recently healed), and a bad road rash (still have red marks on my arm, wrist and fingers), but I didn't break anything (thank god).

There was some minor damage to the bike.. but I didn't worry about getting it fixed at the time, since the season was over, and thanksgiving was one of the last semi-warm days of the year here in Denver.

So here's my question: we've all heard the warnings about carbon: "Damaged fiber can fail suddenly ...", etc. I have a carbon fork.. I don't think it was damaged, but I don't really know.. Is there anyway I can tell?

the LBS will be in a better position to determine if it is still useable.
they have the experience and tools(?) to check.
i don't know if you want to risk riding on it by checking it yourself.
you may not want another incident

I'd just watch it closely, if you don't see any cracks or serious abrasions you're probably OK.

How good is your insurance? Dental coverage? Buy a new fork.

that's probably what I'll do... I can afford a new fork.. can't afford another 1000 hospital bill.
