I know that Surly makes one for their huge winter bike, but I'd be interested in one for my old MTB. 1" threaded headset, canti brakes, old geometry etc. Does such a thing exist?

Also why are front fork dropouts 100mm? It would seem like a person could just bend one of those out to 135mm if they tried hard enough but I don't really know for sure.

Thanks for any insights on this. Its more of a curiosity thing than anything.

I think that'd be a no for everything. 35mm is a long way to bend a fork and all you could do is bend the blades out- the crown isn't going to expand.

Its a unicrown fork, so it might.

+1

Forks are not hard to build but I'd hate to have one fail on me, and bending sounds like a good way to make that happen.

Not to mention spreading one 35mm might bring the tire too close to the crown so it either doesn't fit or the brakes don't line up.
