Can anyone tell me the difference between a Bridgestone XO-1 and an XO-2? I never knew there were two of them but there's one of eack for sale on ebay. Both appear to be road frames built for 26" wheels. That's why I asked this question here: it's not REALLY a road bike and not REALLY a mt bike. Seems like a great urban commuter.

Hi,
I used to own a XO2; and I have ridden a XO1. There is a big difference. The XO1 has much better steel. That tubing lifts the bike into the memorable category. It had a lively, springy ride that is just not found in most bikes. Not sure I would
bother for a XO2, but I would for an XO1.
The XO bikes were never intended to be fast road bikes. They aren't exactly slow; comfort, versatility, and durability is their forte. I remember a guy riding a XO1 across Australia. I also remember another guy on a XO1 dropping me like I was standing still. With skinny tires,it can motor along at a decent speed.

The Bridgestone XO-1 is a forefather of the full custom Rivendell "longlow" and the more affordable off-the-shelf Atlantis. It's an all-rounder bike. Commute, trail, tour... using 26inch tires cause you can get tubes for them just about anywhere. Great for 'round the world tours.

I want one, myself. That orange one on Ebay will go a little high for me, probably over $600. An Atlantis frame and fork is about $1000.

Didn't some version of these beasts use moustache bars?

The orange one is a real looker... if it were a little bigger I'd be emptying out the piggy banks...

You guys are swell. All the answers I was hoping for. I'm not really in the market right now. Just practicing in hopes of really being able to buy one some day.

Yeah. That orange one sure is purty...
