Recumbent - Bentech

Anyone know anything about the Bentech (http://www.bentechbikes.com/)bents?

Yes, I know there are lots of others, but they're as rare as hens teeth here in Oz and darned pricey. The idea of making my own appeals ... and the Bentech just happens to be the style I like (yup, it goes no deeper than that at this time). Apart from looking at piccies and dreaming a bit, I know nothing specific about bents, so any thoughts will be appreciated

Putt Putt... did the 14 year old help you, that would have been a blast. I have so many ideas in my head that I don't know where to start. I have made several bikes, first one a Ground Hugger clone. Then a trike, long wheel base modeled after the Ground Hugger. That was over 30 years ago. recently I did a short wheel base...

I built 2 Cruzbikes recently. One was a mountain bike, the other a folding bike. Here are pictures.


It requires a bike with standover height, like the Y frame mountain bike or the folding bike that I used (cost $300). The Cruzbike kit costs about $400 shipped. If you're handy enough to think about building a bike from scratch, then the kit shouldn't take you more than 4 or 5 hours.

She looks great. Is it a trick of the photos or are you using two same sized wheels? If so, why? And does that frame tube have a bend in it? It looks straight in the pics.

Yeah, it's a high racer. I asked Dom to make it that way, no bends or anything. And I wanted two wheels the same size cause I didn't want the hassle of maintaining two different spokes and tires and tubes.

Good modification to the standard or am I better off doing it as per the plans?

Contact Dom and ask if he has plans for the highracer or the 26/20 stick bike. Making a stick bike is easier to make since you don't have to worry about a tube bender.
