I have a crosscheck frame built up with flat bars and mtb componentry and have struck an issue with the front shifting.
Using a xtr M953 himount bottom pull front der and xt m760 cranks (44/32/22) I cannot ideally position the front mech ( i.e cage 2mm+- off the 44) In this position the rear of the cage hits the chainstay and the lowest I can get is 2cm above the 44. It shifts ok but.......
I know it is not right.
I have noticed shimano have a xt front der for frames with a 63-66deg angle between seat and chain stay and assume it must rotate the shift mech and cage forward relative to the seat stay. This may be a solution.
Has anyone else got crosschecks built as mtb's and how is your front shifting? Do I need to go to road ratios on the front? Will the xt front mech fix it?
any ideas welcome!
