Hey I'd like to hear ideas on what would be a neat Rube Goldberg (chain reaction) project I can make for class as a project we are constructing that uses the 6 advantages to do a task. Im thinking about having a small pot of soil with a plant in it, and the task is to make water comedown and water it. So I have to include an: inclinded plane, wedge, screw, lever, pulley, and wheel/axle. I will be using K'nex, wood, and maybe some piping. Does any one has design ideas or unique, good, materials that I can use? thanks.

No, but if you need motivation:

Actually, yes, I just did think of one. Have some sort of mass on a rotating arm (a simple hammer, which itself is a lever), that falls from above its axle to strike the inclined plane and drive it under a lever. That's just one part, but it popped into my head because I was thinking a wedge might be a difficult tool to integrate.

I heard that video was shot all in one take, and it is completely real, and there are no special effects or computer generated stuff in there...it probably took them a bunch of takes to get it right.

to ej123- google for rube goldber0g machine and check out some other stuff others have done

Yes, it's real, and took over 100 takes if I remember correctly, but they did cheat a little. They shot it in two parts, because the studio wasn't long enough to fit it all in one straight line.

Use the game, Moustrap. It's chock full of Rube Goldbergesque devices for the purpose.

It took 606 takes and cost them 6 million dollars.

you obviously will have to include at least ONE marble-drop and a bell somewhere.
