Northeast - New York City Bike Map

Here is a map of New York City's bicycle network using google maps --> www.nycbikemaps.com (http://www.nycbikemaps.com). this website also has news and information on biking in NYC, as well as a google earth download.

i posted about this website 7 or 8 months ago & there have been several major updates since then, including the addition of several requested features, such as being able to search the map or save the map location and zoom.

note: i own nycbikemaps.com, so this could be classified as shameless self-promotion, but i hope that all the bikers in the city find this useful.

I can't get the maps to open...

Here's what I would love on an NYC bike map site...

A "best routes" section.

For example, "What is the best route from the Brooklyn Bridge to the Westside bike path?"

Obviously the most direct is bridge to the very end, bang that hard left onto the off ramp lane, left on Chambers. But riding Chambers during rush hour feels like trying to cross the middle of a figure eight race course.

I think I'll stick with the paper version. It's faster and I don't usually carry an Internet-connected laptop in my saddle bag when I'm out on a ride. :D
