Fifth estate examined road rage yesterday. Unfortunately, I only caught the last 10 mins. Here's a link to their site if you want to look. http://www.cbc.ca/fifth/roadwarriors/
I thought I'd post it because it effects us indirectly, and this was a prime time presentation on mainstream media. If you can call canadian television mainstream.

Indirectly?!?!? I guess you have never had an enraged driver point his vehicle right at you.

There is a test on that page that is kind of hard to believe. If you have 3-4 of those it calls you road rage material. Funny.

I'd guess 90 % would get 3-4 if answered truthfully. If they don't they need to check for a heart beat.

I failed that test miserably.

"Green. You are cool and collected most of the time." :D

I guess that's good to know. The quiz is silly. Who doesn't mutter about other drivers, or get irritated in a traffic jam? Those were the only "true" ones for me. People need to ride bicycles more. :p

I still find the best way to unnerve a driver, whether I'm in my car or my bicycle, is to give them a thumbs up with a smile when they do something particularly idiotic.... it always makes them go 'huh?'

Green, cool and collected most of the time. I had driven my parked SUV after a month of bicycling, and I realized after going through town and on the freeway that my heart rate and blood pressure was like that of when I am sitting at home reading a good book. I'm not sure if I was destressed do to the physical excercise from bicycling or playing road dodge ball while commuting on the bike. ;)

I got a yellow caution... most likely because I do mutter to myself...

"Jeeze look at that idiot."

"Oh wow, they must be stuck on the cell phone."

"55MPH people... there is a speed limit."

"Turn signals buddy... what are they an option on new cars... "

:D

It's funny how that works. I'm the same way. Maybe it's because we're driving because we WANT to drive, not because we HAVE to drive. We don't deal with the stress day in and day out, so little stuff doesn't bother us. (Us = Frequent cyclists)

Ever see two ragers going at it? Back way off and enjoy the show.

haha all the time. I never get mad in a traffic jam. I just sit back and listen to some music. I have given the finger on multiple occasions though.

Just hang out at the BF, and I don't even have to leave the comfort of my own home. :D

I'm bad for being a rager. On my bicycle or motorcycle. Some one intrudes on myspave or rights and I am all over them. I had a guy the other summer overtake me on a curve in city traffic while I was on my MC just because there was enough room. This curve has a lot of cars which wonder over centerline so there at least I stay in right portion of lane. This twit screams past me. I followed him all the way to his house. Got of my bike and started screaming at him. His neighbours came out finally his sons came out of the house and made physically threatening moves. I was totally pissed off. Certainly not the most mature reaction I have ever had.

I'm ok in a car I just shake my head and go about my merry way but on my MC or bike I am real bad for raging.

I rated green. I sometimes will make a mental note about somebody, but I don't "often mutter to myself." I don't enjoy driving, though. Too much congestion. I prefer to use a vehicle that allows me to cut in front of everybody.

Just today on the 65 mph highway (101) coming to a pinchpoint from two lanes to one and speed dropping to 55. I looked in my mirror and saw a car try to pass the car just behind me, I had to slow down for the construction zone and the passing car was trying to inch his way between me and the car behind me. They went for about 1/4 mile side by side as the road got narrower and narrower, when we got to the barricades I was really interested to see what would happen when two cars tried to fit in one lane. The Passer finally was able to fit in by a matter of inches, AFTER he was well in the lane I then slowed down below 50 and took my time getting through the pinchpoint. I coulc see the driver getting steamed, I think he had to roll his windows down to let the steam out so he could see. :)
