While I've posted in Carfree occasionally as I dipped my toe in the water, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself as I feel I'll be posting here more in the future.
Last weekend I accepted a new job in Northampton MA. and last night the offer on the home we want to buy was accepted. One of the big contributing factors to this job was that it is in a community which has a greenway, and the company, as well as most of the things we need are either just off or not far from this bike path. The house itself is half a block from access to the path, and my work will be just over 3 miles down the path. I had given a serious attempt at commuting with the job I'm now leaving behind, but 21 miles each way, along state roads with no shoulders, and motorists that believe that "Share the Road" means "Share the Lane", began my search for something better. (OK - & the pay doesn't hurt.) The plan is to eliminate the two cars that I previously kept for uninterrupted access to jobsites, and keep just one car for visiting the grandparents, going skiing, and taking our young kids to pre-school on the coldest of New England mornings.
I want to thank you all for the constructive criticism and suggestions I've read over the last year on this sub-forum, and look forward to hearing even more of it along with hopes that I'll be able to contribute as well.
