All... Got an e-mail from Stewart, the Dairyland Dare organizer. He's all about getting word out on the rides in SW Wisconsin, as there is more than just the Horribly Hilly Hundreds. Here's the e-mail.

[QUOTE=Brigadier
Now that everyone is confirmed, is anyone in the Madison/Mount Horeb area planning on training outside starting in April? I'll probably be riding sections of the course every week up until the big event and wouldn't mind a little company :)[/QUOTE]

I'll be out during the week pulling my three year old, and solo on the weekends. I'm in Mount Horeb so come on out and suffer with me.

Since I live in Mount Horeb my lodging is covered. Here is the nearby hotels that I know of
http://www.deervalleylodgewi.com/ this is about 8 miles west of the start of the ride and newer.
http://littlebedder.com/ This is in Mount Horeb which is 8 miles east of the start. I have not been to either of these but the one in Mount Hoerb is suppose to be clean but dated.

Any more I'm down for camping. The entries and the transport start to make these trips expensive. Camping adds a whole additional level of "you did what??!!" to the Monday morning explanation of what happened.

Still waiting to hear if Mt Horeb HS gym will be open for indoor camping. I did that last year and it was quite convenient, as it was free. It was also where Friday night registration pickup was. And there were real bathrooms available.

Some of the nearest hotels are booked. I'm at the {edit** Hilton Garden Inn in Middleton. A Starbucks and Archivers across the street means my wife will happily tag along.

When I showed up at 5:00 am to pass out timing chips, there was a guy sleeping in his car. Camping can't be that much worse. I have relatives 30 minutes from the start, sorry to rub it in.:p

HAHAHA! - No car sleeping for me. I acutlaly enjoy camping. Adds to the suffer effect for the whole experience. So....relatives 30 minutes away...they wouldn't happen to have a basement by chance??? ;)

They have a pool... and a pond. The pond would good for you though, natural spring water.

15 miles. I misspoke. It's actually the Hilton Garden Inn Madison West/Middleton (http://www.orbitz.com/App/ViewSpecificHotelLP?masterId=79313&hs=OMH&tabIndex=1&gcid=C11287x274&gtkw=79313&WT.mc_id=o_ta_maps&WT.mc_ev=click&DCSext.mc_kw=79313). It's on the western edge of the Madison area.

camping is cool with me. it will allow me to go up Friday and come home Sunday. i remember seeing a link for camping on the Mt Horeb town web site. i think it was actually in the Blue Mound Park, but have to check on that. plus, i have a little mini portable coffee pot and brew nothing but fresh roasted beans from Metropolis :) ! who's in?

Just got an email from Active letting me know I am registered for the HHH, and how sorry they were about all the trouble on March 1st. Seems like they could speed up a little since registration ended three weeks ago.

I fit stops raining I'll be out on the route Sunday if anyones around.

What part of the course are you planning on riding and when? I might be out that neck of the woods breaking in my hill climbing legs.

Brigadier sent you a PM, here my plan.

The forecast doesn't look good but if its not raining I plan to head out by 9am.
I'm thinking of doing stage 2 starting at Hwy 78 and J to Festge Park then stage 3, cutting back to finish stage 2 from Black Earth on KP. I live in Mount Horeb so I'll be riding out from here, there is parking by the trail off Second st.

I know it's been a few years since I left Wisconsin but since when are there hills there? ;) The only hill I remember is staggering up Bascom after too many drinks on State Street.

Look like some cool rides - I'd love to try the Dairyland Dare but won't be able to make it back to the "old country" during the summer.

Hey,
Anyone from the Appleton area get into the HHH? I went with the foxcities triclub last year, but no one seems to have gotten in. I am looking at car pooling down, either early on saturday or on friday night. Let me know, Thanks.
