Welcome. You are right about this being a good forum. The only ill will I ever see displayed here is if you run afoul of the safety/antisafety/,anticar/antibike , bike lane/antibike lane, VC anti VC, folks in the safety advocacy forum, or if you publically desecrate a vintage bike in the vintage forum.I'm kidding, of course(well, not completely).
A quick question: I sell stuff on ebay-bicycle stuff, motorcycle stuff. It isn't a business, just a hobby and an attempt to keep my wife from kicking me out because my "stuff" has taken over one spare bedroom, and threatening another.
What is the best way to avoid duties to Chile? Can you claim it is a gift? How low an amount can you claim??What about other SA countries? I shipped to Brasilia recently, and the buyer had to pay 40% of the claimed value (on a suspension fork).
I don't mean to put you on the spot; just ignore this question-and accept my apology- if this question is waaay out of line.

PS Airmail shipping to Brazil was a surprisingly cheap $45 for the bulky fork.

Duty in Chile is 20 % of the invoice value + 19% IVA or tax,if you give an invoice with each sell,you can price the fork (for example) for a much lower value,that way they calculate the 20% of that lower value.
Not all things pass through customs anyway specially smaller things,and things they have no reference t price
