Yeah, my wife just called and told me. Then I went to cnn.com.
Am I a bad person if I don't care about the fact she died?

I just read that as well. It's unfortunate for the baby she had recently to be without a mother now. I wonder what she died from?

For some reason I do care. It really troubles me that she had such a sad life.

An overdose.
Anna Nicole Smith died Thursday after collapsing at a hotel and being being rushed to the hospital, one of her lawyers said.
Smith collapsed in her room at the Hard Rock Cafe and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., and was rushed to a hospital on Thursday. A Hollywood, Fla., fire department spokesman told MSNBC TV that the actress was unresponsive when the rescue unit arrived on the scene and had been intubated. Smith was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital shortly after 2 p.m. EST and her attorney confirmed that she had died nearly an hour later.
On Tuesday, Smith and the diet products company TrimSpa Inc., for which she is a spokeswoman, were sued in a class-action lawsuit alleging their marketing of a weight loss pill is false or misleading.
She has been highly suddated(sp) did I spell that right?? I feel bad for that baby girl. :(
I can't say I'm surprised.

How do you get "overdose" from this? Maybe it was, but don't jump to conclusions.

this is very odd. i just got a breaking news email about it and i thought to myself that this is the most out-of-the blue piece of news i've heard in a long time.
I wonder if it has anything to do with her son's death.
I happened to see her on TV the other night, sure sounded
like she was on something, slurring speech, eyes strangely unfocused.
and given her predilection for and history of Vicodin abuse I can't say
that I'm surprized.
what a sad story when taken as a whole.

The initial statement from her lawyer mentioned something about an overdose. When I went back to msnbc or foxnews that little piece of info wasn't there any longer. Not jumping to conclusions, just repeating what I read earlier.
I just read in the article that it was an overdose on methadone and antidepressants.
Noooooo! Not the twins!!!

That is what her son died of.
oh. I just kinda skimmed through. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just straight up coke.

It just hurts to see a life snuffed out, however it happened. I hope that baby will have a loving and safe home, out of the public eye. But I doubt it. :(
trust me the public eye has ADD like woah.
The more I'm thinking about it, the more I'm leaning towards Post Partum
depression leading to O.D.
has baby, son dies of O.D. within days, embroiled in all sorts of
controversy (paternity?) it's a wonder she didn't do this before.
Am I a bad person if I don't care about the fact she died?
People die every single day. I can't say I'm particularly sad about this particular death either. I'm not judging her and I'm not saying her life wasn't sad or whatever, but better people have worse lives and die in more tragic ways every single day. I have a hard time being moved by the death of some random celebrity, especially when I have a hard time understanding how she became famous to begin with.
I do feel bad for the kid, and drug overdoses are sad and tragic in and of themselves, but knowing a persons name and what they look like doesn't make me feel for them any more than a complete stranger.

+1 that's a good way to put it. i had tried to write something similar but i couldn't really come up with anything.
Strange side note, but when I attended Texas A&M University in the 80's, I used to drive through Mexia, Texas. Anna is supposed to have worked at Jim's Krispy Fried Chicken in Mexia at that time. I stopped and ate there on more than one occasion. I have always wondered if I met her.
She had a very wild ride from small town Texas waitress to topless dancer, to international model, millionaire wife, embattled widow, reality TV star, loss of a son all in less than 20 years.

Good point jsharr. Hard to imagine what some aspects of her life were like. As I previously stated, I feel sorry for the child she had recently.

I could care less, she isn't involved in my life, and isn't a friend.

I am largely indifferent about A-N herself, although I certainly would not have wished death upon her. But I do not feel particularly sad for her little girl. It is very hard for me to believe that that child had a glimmer of a chance to have a healthy, normal childhood with Anna-Nicole as her primary parental figure. I hope she ends up with someone (preferably two someones, but one will do) who will love her, protect her from the spotlight, and give her the chance to be just another little girl.

It is not that I don't care. I just don't understand why her death is any more important than the little old lady from Omaha, NB that was a house wife all her life.
Really I feel for the Smith family for the loss but no more than the unknown people of the world who die daily.

for some silly reason I do care and find myself sadden by it. i think lately we got to see another side of her, a more human side suffering from a lot of tragedy in her life.
She just had a beautiful baby, that is very sad... very surprising news.

I agree. I think its always a tragedy when a life is taken prematurely, no matter the causes. It sounds like she had a very sad life filled with pain and death. :(

I have said all along since the baby was born that her son that died was the father. I think the court was going to pressure her for a DNA test to determine the father. No way out for her. I am saddened.

WHAT IF?
The embittered billionare son of her dead ex-husband (who left her billions) had her and her son killed to claim the entire estate?
Not a good week for Trimspa either. If you are the owner, you've gotta be having a really bad day about now. First you get sued by a bunch of models who claim they never took the stuff, yet the company used them in the ads and then a few days later your #1 spokesmodel, who happens to be a very recognizable figure in the U.S., keels over dead. That can't be good for sales.

Whippany, NJ, February 8, 2007 – Today, Anna Nicole Smith’s grief stricken and tumultuous personal life came to an end. Anna came to our Company as a customer, but she departs it as a friend. While life for Anna Nicole was not easy these past few months, she held dear her husband, Howard K. Stern, her daughter, Dannielynn Hope, her most cherished friends, beloved dogs, and finally, her work with TRIMSPA.
Anna knew both the joy of giving life, and the heartache of losing a child. We pray that she is granted the peace that eluded her more recent days on earth, and that she find comfort in the presence of her son, Daniel.
-- Alex Goen, CEO and Founder, TRIMSPA
Man she was so hot for a while.
Then she just nosed straight into a dive.

WHAT IF?
The slime lawyer "Howard K Stern" did both her son and her so being the, (not yet proven), father of her only living heir gets control of the estate. Wasn't he recently questioned or implicated in her son's death?
Curiouser and curioser...
But I feel bad for someone that had such a tragic life...
Sad any way you look at it.

Whoa! Never heard that one. So you think her son fathered her baby? Crap, that's whay i call a consipiracy theory.

Am I a bad person if I don't care about the fact she died?
Several years ago there was a news story about a woman who died in a car accident in Manchester, NH. My first thought was that it was too bad, but not my tragedy. Then they gave the woman's name...a good friend of my wife. :( It was like a slap in the face, it just turned into my tragedy.
No, Jon...you are not a bad person, but neither was she...perhaps a bit misguided at times. I will mourn her death and hope she is now in a better place.

That would be disgusting, but such a great story if it was true.

She sounded stoned in her speech for the longest time. My guess is that she was in great pain and either accidentally, or on purpose, died of a drug overdose. Rest in Peace. Really sad when you think about it.

Huh??? So you're saying that you think she was having sex with her son?.... and got pregnant by her own son? and.... had his baby?! If that's what you mean all I can say is....Eeeeewww! and WTF!?
