I'm completing a short paper on bicycle activism (car-free living, environmental, health, etc -- various aspects) rooted in NYC.

Things I'm looking for are some people actively involved in activist groups (for possible email questions or calls). Opinions from people living in NYC not involved in such movements (not really from this forum, I guess) are also desired. And a number of other related questions.

I am particularly interested in the 'underground' groups (messengers, people doing alleycats, critical massers, etc).

I am scouring the NYTimes and possibly some other publications for some general information and events and such, and to compliment that I would really love some personal stories.

please shoot me an email RE:'NYC bikes' to w.lapenotiere **at** gmail **.** com

Thanks!

You may want to get in touch with the TimesUP folks in NYC. They seem to be plugged into "underground" scene there. Though last time I checked, other than short stretches through tunnels, most cycling is strictly above ground.
