Bicycle Mechanics - Good floor pump?

I'm looking for a new floor pump. I'm hoping to find one that has a gauge, fits both schrader and presta, and doesn't cost too much. My road bike has presta valves and I inflate to 105 lb. My wife has a mountain bike with road-type tires - schrader, 80 lbs. Right now I use a schrader head with an adapter on my presta valves. It's starting to leak and fall off, and I'm tired of always having to find and put on the adapter. I'd like one pump for both bikes.

Anyone have any positive experience with not-too-expensive pumps?

i have an ascent pump from performance that cost about the same and works alot better than any silca that i ever used.

I just bought a Silca Super Pista from Nashbar and it's the best pump I have used so far. I have tried a Park and a cheapie from Nashbar and this is by far the best. You can reach high pressures easily and I don't have any complaints. Some people will complain that it takes too long to get up to pressure but I really haven't noticed it. It's also fully servicable.

how we cannot find a decent pump over ere in malaysia. Most LBS here just sell those cheap chinese made floor pumps dat does not stand normal use of more than few months...

The Joe Blows are nice but can be on the expensive side relative to other pumps. There are some pumps that will do both without having to do a switch.

Your best bet will probably be the store or off brand name at Performance/Nashbar. The gauge is just a guide, i.e. don't count on it to be spot on. Try to get a metal pump. Most can do both presta and shrader.

I have a Silca Super Pista and it's been relegated to the shed. It was replaced by a Park PFP3 that get to high pressure quicker and is easier to use. It was about $30.

The Joe Blows are nice but can be on the expensive side relative to other pumps.

Just bought a Pedro's prestige and works great.. I can easily pump tires up to 130 psi.. It has a flip lock which seems to work better at hiogh pressures..

I think i got mine for $25-30 at REI.

I just bought the Nashbar Pump L'Orange and it just showed up yesterday. So far no problems, but I haven't used it yet beyond letting my 4 year-old try to smash his fingers in it. It is bigger than any floor pump I've had before. $40.

Considering you'll be buying another pump after the cheap one you buy now breaks down, the above is a great deal.

I use an SKS Air x-press Pump or the Avenir equivilent... They hold up suprisingly well and I like the Dual-head/Single-side setup... It works a lot better than anything else in my experience

I've had mine for over a year and it's a good basic pump with both valve fittings, gauge and can pump up to 160 psi pressure (although I never done it) It has a good solid feel. The base is stable. And nice blue color.

I had a plastic one years back (Zefal) and I do not recommend a pump with a plastic barrel - it just doesn't have a good solid feel. I felt as if it would buckle under load.

The Torelli was rated higher then those, and that's the one I have had for about 8 years. I have a feeling thought that modern day pumps are not as good as the older ones use to be since I've known people that have had old pumps and some were cheap crap from companies you never heard of from the 70's that still work.

Meh, the specialized is okay...

Just avoid Zefals.
