Checked the technical doc for the S7, but it only says how to install the S7 on the frame. Nothing about replacing the cog.

I managed to find the exploded view of the S7, and while that might give some hints on how to do this, it is still not clear if I'll actually screw up something or not.

P.S. Yeah, I ****in' did it. Figured I have to remove the springy ring off. Which was a real BYTCH!!!
Guys, if you try this, keep your head out of the way, 'cause that springy ring is gonna FLY off the hub, and could take your eye out. No ****.

Springs rings are fun. Judging by the amount of swearing in this post you only lost 1 finger in the process. Not bad for a first go. ;)

That's just half of the story anyway... I then proceeded to install the cog I just removed from the SRAM, onto a Shimano Nexus Inter-8. Which uses the same principle, except the ring has a square profile (and not circular like with the SRAM), and it was way easier to remove, and it didn't rocket off the hub. However, it was just insanely hard to put back. So much, in fact, that I ended up making my own tool for this very purpose (I modified some fine but cheap pliers).

Oh, BTW, the Shimano manual calls this ring a "snapring". So, I have my very own "snapring positioner tool". I'm so proud.


So, has weather improved over there, did you work in the shop in the meantime?
