Touring - Europe tour suggestions
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm planning a September tour starting in Frankfurt and ending in Munich. I want to cycle along the Mosel, the Saone to Lyon and then the Rhone to follow it into Switzerland. Then through Switzerland to end in Munich. Has anyone done portions of this proposed route? Any tips? I have cycled the Mosel from Koblenz to Trier a few years ago and enjoyed it very much. Our intent is to find modest accomodation along the way.
I live in and love Frankfurt. You'll have lots of lovely bike routes to guide you through your entire journey. Do you speak or read any German?
I can speak some German. We have done some touring in Germany and Austria in the past few years and have enjoyed each trip. We don't speak French but toured southern France last year and also had a great time. This year we want to mix it up a bit.
Rothenburg ob der Tauber might be on the way (Wurzburg too) and is the quintesential looking old German town. It's also a tourist trap, but an unbelievably pretty one. Worth looking into when you're choosing a route.

In June 07 I'm starting a tour in Europe starting in Copenhagen and finishing in London, is that a good idea?
These books are the best map and tour guides. I have a bunch and highly recommend them.
