Hi folks,

For cool weather night riding I normally wear two ankle reflectors and a jacket with reflectors on the sleeves and back pocket. With all my lights, I consider this adequate. But I'm planning on entering some RUSA events in coming months, and want to get a sash or vest to fully comply with the rules. What's recommended? I was pretty much decided on the Amphipod Xinglet (http://www.amphipod.com/440-448/440.html), but recently heard a complaint that it tends to ride up. I still like the idea of a sash, hoping that it won't flap at high speed, and that it won't block access to my jersey or jacket pockets.

I have an Illuminite vest currently, but it doesn't reflect all that well, and does get in the way.

All suggestions welcome.

Thanks,
Jack

I just use the Sam Brown belt that RUSA sells.

I've tried the Amphipod and do not like it for fit / riding up issues.

What I really like so far is the Cactus Creek Vest (http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442501795&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302692343&bmUID=1167952777149). Its actually designed for cycling - and has pockets!

You can also get a cheap runners vest, and the RUSA Sam Browne sashs are popular.

I use a reflective sash made by Nathan, available at REI and likely many LBSs. I also use the RUSA sash, only $6!, but don't like it as much as the Nathan one.

Also, I just found out that RUSA is offering reflective triangles for only $4 each. The triangle is not a substitute for the sash or vest, but provides additional reflectivity in a standard slow-moving vehicle shape. I don't see it on the RUSA order form yet, but they just announced it yesterday.

Hi

I just got a camelbak Hi-Viz which is high visibility green with reflective tape back and on the straps on the front and has the advantage of 2 litres of hydration which I will be using on brevets. You can google camelbak hi-viz far a variety of sources (I found one on ebay) or here is one site that has pics so you can see what I am on about http://www.uscav.com/productinfo.aspx?productid=10834&urlid=Froogle_30385&cm_mmc=Froogle-_-n%2Fa-_-ShopEngine-_-30385&CatID=5

I have the nathan vest but switched to the RUSA sash because I had issues getting into my back pockets.

I like the idea of the Cactus Creek vest because it has pockets but I'd think it would be a hassle to move stuff from it to my jersey and back as I go from night to day.
