It looks like I will be headed back to the Bay Area in a month or so. What teams are there in the East Bay? I only know of the Valley Spokesmen and the Pegasus shop team, and then only by name. I plan on continuing to race, even if I'm a mediocre perma-four. Hopefully with more challenging road races instead of the constant diet of Southern California crits I can finally claw my up. I'm a pure climber in the worst sense: hills are my recovery sections after painful flats and descents. Any suggestions of teams to look into? What about weekend rides? I'll be working in San Ramon, but I'm not sure where I will find housing that I can afford. Initially I will be staying with family in San Ramon or Walnut Creek. Thanks.

Try contacting our race team. Someone there might know of one close to you, or you can join them. Most of our club rides are near Fremont.

I know that some of the guys (and gals) on the local cycling team/organization in my town sometimes ride in races. Click here (http://www.teamalameda.org/) to be taken to the link.

hey my name is joe scat I live in concord not far from downtown walnut creek. I usually ride from concord to dublin via the service road ie; danville blvd, south main st and so on. I try to do it at least three times a week. and the round trip is 40 miles. start to finish. I average 20 to 24 miles an hour but usually I ride for the exercise and fun.I still cannot find a group of bikers in the area to ride with on the weekends.. still hunting. I tried riding mt. diablo but I only have two sprokets up front and they are not compact. so after I get to about 2000 feet im pretty much done lol. talk to you soon

This site (http://www.bikeness.com/forums/calendar.php) has a calendar with a lot of Bay Area rides.

edit: FWIW, the House of Pain ride listed seems to be very fast - I ride a lot of the same roads, and they fly by me - I couldn't grab onto that group if my life depended on it.
