Nay...Coffee equivalent of a Big Mac (i.e. like McDonald's - ubiquitous and pushing out the family owned coffee shops - and the coffee isn't even that good!) With that being said, I do go there, so I'm a hypocrite. I prefer Peet's.

Heck yay! Or even Port City Java. I like coffee.

I like my coffee black. I've never felt the need to get it from anywhere that will charge me more than a dollar and change for a big cup. And, as far as I'm concerned, drip coffee is drip coffee. So, nay.

I'm a big coffee fan but don't go out of my way to go there. Mom n pop coffee is better and cheaper, plus less lines. Let the drones wait in line for the same ol coffee.

If you never had 100% Kona then you don't know what your missing.

Oh, and I only take my coffee in enima form, so taste is more or less irrelevant.

Nay. Local roasters. :)

They make decent frames, usually on the heavy side. You should try one.

Nay.
Peet's
Starbucks is pretty good. There is a Dunn Bros opening around my school; I might check it out.
nay, locally roasted, fresh ground, starbucks can't even touch it.
Ok think about it. Addiction is bad right? because addiction usually means dependency. Right? So if a person is dependent on coffee to wake up, or stay up. Isn't that a bad thing?

If you get 100% Kona from Hawaii which is grown in volcanic enriched soil (hell, the islands are nothing but volcanic soil now that I make that statement). It cost up to $50/lb.
I brought some back from Hawaii in 03' ................it is a coffee conisseur's coffee!:D

Me, I prefer Starbucks over Peets, but I generally visit the local shops if I know about them and the coffee and service are good.

You know, you can get addicted to just about anything. Sugar, fat, the internet. ;)
Some people just like drinking it. I can wake up just fine without it, but I still like to enjoy a cup every now and then.

I never really been able to understood the mentality that regular use naturally indicates addiction.

Never alone, but it's a nice place to meet a friend, or maybe have a date.
Best place I ever had coffee was a nice little dive called "Cup-a-Joe" on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh, NC. It was just a few blocks from my cheap-rent house during grad school, and I went there every Sunday morning with a neighbor. We'd take turns buying the paper, get a large coffee apiece, served in real ceramic coffee mugs, and read the paper. Free refills. Place was kinda like that coffeehouse on Friends, with the real cups and plates, and old sofas and mismatched chairs, but not as annoying, instead full of much more down-to-earth people.
nay, unless its the only place to get a cup of coffee (upscale hipster grind).
Prefer local roasters, Allegro from Whole Foods,
java joes for mail order (I forget the other mail order).
Dunn brothers is ok, but I thought the roast was weak (light) resulting
in a sour tasting coffee.

I've been saying that for years...McDonalds has some of the best coffee around. Check their website where they go into detail about their gourmet coffee. Shouldn't be that much of a surprise, since their fries have been rated numero uno by virtually everyone.
And to answer the question....NAAAAAAY.
StarSucks coffee = over-priced, over-rated, sour swill http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/sick0020.gif (http://www.thesmilies.com)
But look out, they seem to be taking over the world as we know it. Marketing geniuses. Go figure

Mmmmmmmmmmm.......... White Chocolate Mocha..........with whipped cream. My favorite! :)
Where I go, for every 7th Starbucks you buy, you get the 8th one free!! I'm on my 23rd free one.....:o
Now if only they made a Pistachio one...... :D
Local roaster [best coffee around, period] sells 100% hawaiian kona for about $30/lb I'm going to go for it one day. Right now, I have four blends of coffee, well three. I just ran out of my Ethiopian Sidamo. I have one blend, a Brazilian coffee [forget the name] and a Sumatra bean coffee. When you taste coffee that isn't roasted to hell, you'll never go back. Starbucks doesn't market coffee, they market sugar. Last time I went, the barista was in shock that I wanted a Latte without a sugary syrup added to it.
Couple real good coffee, a good setup [burr grinder, french press] with not supporting a faux eco-friendly pusher that stomps on better local coffee shops and you just can't help but feel good, but that might just be the caffeine buzz from this fresh cup of coffee.

I hate waiting in line for anything. At my age, there are only so many minutes left to waste. I will, however, go to Starbucks for one of their apple fritters if the crowd is thin....

I have no idea what lines people talk about. Here, you'll be lucky to see 2 people in a star bucks. I've cycled and shopped past them all the time and they're always dead.

yay. I'm addicted to the Triple Venti Mocha with a shot of rasberry. It's like crack.
I prefer to buy their Sumantra and House Blends and brew them at home in my own coffee maker though. The Triple Mochas are a treat.
I have starbuck beans in a bag, grind it up wheneever I want coffee, and it's pretty good.
I think I am just naturally repulsed by anything considered to be "hip" by today's "hipsters" so I vote nay. I've been in one once, had a caramel cider, and it was good. It was post-ride with some hipsters from the LBS when I was visiting Williamsburg, so I tagged along. I didn't get it.
I generally drink my coffee at home, and I too appreciate Kona, although the Kona blend at the grocery store is as close as I get most of the time. Unfortunately it seems to be becoming "hip" as they are often out.

Too expensive but more to the point, I support my local mom & pop's. BTW, Starbuck's is no better than the coffee I make at home.

Have no clue on the coffee, but I was there this morning getting a dozen cheese bagels:)
Someone else said it above. But I'll put mine in the form of Philosophy 4 exam question:
If Starbucks:coffee::McDonalds:hamburgers
and caloso loves burgers and never goes to McDonalds
and caloso also loves coffee
Then caloso a) always; b) sometimes; c) never goes to Starbucks
