View Full Version : Ergon Grips Question

I'm tempted to try the Ergon grips for both the comfort and ease of applying weight on the front wheel in leaned (the bike) turns. They get good reviews for both over at mtbreviews.

Anybody uesing Ergons?

I'm concerned that once they are dialed in for level ground, they will interfere with a good grip/hand-position when your behind the saddle on a very steep downhill, arms low and outstretched or when climbing when your forearms may be low again.

Any comments will be appreciated.

Al

I run them on my Bullit and I really like them. You'll want to roll them down or you'll feel like your hands want to slide forward on steep decents. Just keep your mult-tool handy and you can dial them in as you go. I really like them on long decents, thay are really easy in the palms of my hands.

However, it is well known that you have super human skills. What works for does not always work for us mortal folk. Is girlscout sick?

They do kind of suck. Just like Specialized.

That's what I was afraid off. Thanks.

Once you get them where you like them, you're fine.it just takes a little tweaking.

Drop the angle just below level is you ride on technical terrain. Also, look at our grips in the small size. This will allow a larger hand wrap around the grip.

I've tried them out on 66's bike, and they're super comfy. I don't use them though, since they get in the way when I do double barspins.

My psyche and lack of skillz get in the way when I do double bar-spins.

My conscience almost got in the way before I posted that double barspin comment. Almost.

Hmmm, looks like the elderly amongst us on the Mountain Biking forum seem to really like these grips. Maybe when I turn 40-something I'll look into them.

I have a set also( one with bar end ).
But I'm not using it even though it is very very comfortable. Weight is a bit heavy compare with regular one.

If you want, I can sell mine. :)

I also have them on my walker and I'm hoping to get a set for my wheelchair as well.

I don't use Ergons, but I did pick up a couple of their decals at a vendor's booth at the Sea Otter Clasic last year. I can recomend those!

Yes! I read on Bike Forums that heavy grips makes for "sluggish turning" so it must be true.
