Finally - First Ride 2007
Because of my wife's knee replacement (she is now, 3.5 weeks post surgery, able to walk without the cane some of the time) and a bunch (about 50 inches) of snow, today is the first day in 2007 that all the stars came together and I was able to get out for a ride. Not a long ride, but about 1 hour on the trail, which has been nicely plowed nice and dry. I had to traverse some rather icy streets in the neighborhood, though.
Oh, and Nora also rode the stationary bike today for 10 minutes.
Hey, it feels great, but, somehow, despite all the time on the trainer and doing long snow walks, it just isn't the same, and those muscles really feel it!
Here is a picture of my valiant 1998 Specialized HR on the trail today, which is ideal for this type of ride.

Good to hear you got out. It's gonna have to be 30 F before I hit the road. At this rate that'll be in June!

Gonna be a nice long floating season on those Colorado Rivers this year. Man that is some snow. Glad you got out.

The plains have a lot of snow. The mountains don't - about 80% of average. Sorry - hope for a wet March and April
Sounds like a good day for both of you!

Glad to hear you're back out on the bike, Dnvr. You've been getting great workouts in your exercise room, but no riding. My problem is just the opposite. I have ridden 411 miles this year. That mileage isn't up to what I want to average, but considering it's been a colder than usual January and February around here, and I had hernia surgery during that stretch, the mileage doesn't sound bad to me.
Unfortunately, being 4 weeks behind the surgery, I haven't resumed my other exercising yet. My weight is the same as before surgery, but I can tell that I have lost a couple of pounds of muscle, and added a couple of pounds of fat. Oh well, at least I'm riding. And now, so are you.
Glad to hear your wife is progressing well, too.
Way to go Denver.
Looks like us Ohioans are staying in the deep freeze, temps near 0 degree F at night, 10 F or so daytime. No outside riding for me in the forcastable future.
Glad to hear Nora is doing so well. (there's no smiley for YAAAAAY!)

First bllod of the new year has been drawn! Yahoooooo!!!
And I can't believe the Mrs. (Nora, if I may be so bold) is on the stationary after only 3.5 weeks.
No doubt, a testament to her pluck and courage
Congrats on getting back out on the trail!! It's about time!

This Buckeye has had enough of this cold weather. I'm heading to Florida for a few days to thaw out:D Unfortunately this trip doesn't include biking:(

I'm so jealous of your ride. We've been in the single digits for the past few days and the forecast for the next week doesn't include anything above the freezing mark:mad:
It's nice to hear Nora is doing well.
The snow really melted fast didn't it. Time for fun again.

Only a few weeks ago you and I were gloating on another thread about how mild the Ohio winter had been.
Somehow I knew the weather gods would unleash their fury and have the last laugh.
Rough winter out there Denver, glad to hear you got out. Lot's of snow to melt off still, give the grass and daffodils a nice drink! Best wishes to Nora on her recovery, she will feel so much better after she heals.

Glad to hear you're back out on the trails DFox! It has been too cold here the last week or so to go out on my exercise ride, but on weekends I have been getting in some riding. I've actually ridden more miles to date this year than in 06.

Driving to the post office today, Sat., 17f and the wind is blowing. Guy and his wife are cycling up the road. God bless em. See them often on the rail trail. Little too brisk for me.

Now I'm really jealous. The landscape looks the same as around here but the temperature here is about 40 degrees colder:(
Glad you've been able to get some rides in this year.

Glad to hear that you were able to finally get out and ride. I got in 40 miles today, my longest ride yet since I switched from MB to road. It was kind of chilly here too. I had to wear a long sleeved shirt. When I see those snow pics, I am always glad I left the Hoosier state 34 years ago.
