Bicycle Mechanics - FSA Bottom Brackets

Folks,

Is there anything special with a FSA bottom bracket such as found on a Cannondale BB as far as maintenance is concerned ? It's the first time that I have such a BB and I recently noticed some slack, so I'm thinking of taking a look at it this weekend (I use the bike for commuting to work). No special bearings ? No special tools needed ? Or maybe a some special sealed bearing catridge ?

Is this an Outboard bearing BB or is it an Isis BB?

This is for a Cannondale Bad Boy Disc. According to the on-line specs (hope they're still related to the same model I bought last year) it is a FSA V-Drive MegaExo.

Okay.
If it is the MegaEXO bearing set, you will need a special tool to install/remove the bearing cups. It's fairly standard, Shimano/Truvativ/Race face all use it as well. Check out:

The V-Drive is a '7000 series' ATB crank in the reference... If re-setting the preload on the bearings does not help you probaly need to replace the bearings... does that help at all?

Would that tool be something common like a Park tool or does it have to be some kind of speacial order or otherwise hard-to-find tool ?

If indeed the bearings have to be changed, is this then an ordinary bearing race with the bearings in grease or is it some kind of a one-piece assembly sealed cartridge that has to be replaced altogether ?

Park has one. Lots of people make one... they're pretty common and shouldn't be more than 20$.

The bearings are cartridge type, you can either replace the cartridge bearings or replace the entire cups...

if you want to replace just the bearings, http://enduroforkseals.com/id101.html would be a good bet. They sell the tools as well as 'better' bearings. The standard ones use a seal lip to interface between the bearing and the spindle... these are specially sized ones to not need the seal lip.
