Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Alright, I bought my license today. What's a good race in Texas for a newbie Cat 5?

Congrats!!! I got my license about 3 weeks ago. I will be doing my first race on the 24th at the Walburg Classic. Are you riding with a team or unattached?

KM... I'm unattached. I've read a lot about Walburg. I'm travelling for business that weekend, but if anything changes, I'll try to get in.
I'd try to race walburg, Pace bend the next day if your schedule opens up. They're short early season races so it will be pack riding but probably fairly twitchy since there'll be a lot of new riders. As the season gets ramped up the races get longer and faster. Hurry up and register as the Cat 5's fill up fast due to the 50 rider limit. Good luck.

dl -- you racing Walburg this year? I would like to do Pace Bend as well but time will not permit it.

Yep, I'm in the "B" race so I don't have to get up so early. I looked on the confirmed rider list and didn't see your name. I think there's about 35 riders or so in the second race so get signed up. Have you been down there? I'm hoping it will be a dry weekend. Good luck, and hopefully we won't get caught up in any wrecks.

I just registered. Where did you find the confirmed rider list?
EDIT: I found it!!! Also, I am in the "A" race.
if you look on bikereg's event flyer, the confirmed rider list is in the center, top part of the page.

dl -- depending on the weather, I may make a trip to Walburg to ride the route one day this week.
always good to know where the potholes/windy parts are.
TSU,
I'm sure you've seen the site but check out txbra.org and there's a forum there and the full calendar of events as well. Good luck on whichever race you do and we'll see you out there I'm sure.
