Recumbent - I installed a Terracycle Over/Under Idler kit on my Expedition as well as a Terracycl

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
[cross post from Long Distance Cycling] - thought it may be of interest to all 'benters.
I installed a Terracycle Over/Under Idler kit on my Expedition as well as a Terracycle Light Mount and a Solidlights 1203D headlamp. I am still waiting on a rim so I can build up a SON Dyno Hub wheel and test it out.
I put pics on my rando blog at http://thelazyrandonneur.blogspot.com/
My first brevet is a 200K on 21 April. I'll have minor surgery on 23 April so I'll take two weeks off and hit another 200K on 5 May. I have revised my goals to complete a 200K, 300K & 400K brevet in 2007. I am not shutting the door on the longer events, but I want to focus on these distances and see how things pan out.
I have enjoyed everyones brevet reports so far - keep 'em coming and good luck on your rides....

So, Vik, how's that idler working out? It looks pretty good. Did you get it from the Hostel Shoppe or directly from Terracycle? Price?

I literally put it on an hour ago and with a ton of snow on the roads I can only ride my bent on a fluid trainer for now. I don't expect any radical change in performance or noise. I did it primarily for aesthetics. Once I get a few hundred Kms on it I'll report back with my thoughts on it.
I paid $165 incl. shipping to Canada. Not a cost effective modification if you look at it from a cost vs. performance stand point. I think the stock Volae idlers are just fine, but I REALLY prefer the Bacchetta chain line from a visual perspective.

So, did you buy it direct from Terracycle? I've never seen a clamp like that before.

Yes I ordered it direct from TC. If you call them they'll know exactly what parts you need to fit the idler to your bent.
I have always rec'd outstanding customer service from these guys.

I've got the TC replacement idlers on my Team, but I have to keep the shafts polished and graphited regularly in sub-freezing temps or they won't float and the chain rattles terribly on the side plates (rear). This system that you have looks very slick, though.
