Shelly and I are in our 50's and began riding regularly about 20 years ago after a marathon cured Shelly of the need to run, due to a bad knee. The friction shift mountain bikes led to more serious road bikes and in '93 we had a tandem built for us by Bill Holland of "Holland Cycles" in San Diego. The tandem became the tool of choice for longer tours and we've shipped it to distant destinations, such as Vermont and New Zealand, as well as up and down the West Coast etc. Unfortunatly my love of speed has led to the purchase of motorcycles over the past decade and our cycling conditioning has suffered ever since :( . We both still ride but are often torn between the two venues. I guess anything on 2 wheels is better than being in a cage tho  . Ride well, wayne
