Finally got a feb. ride in. Its been cold and windy here the last couple of weeks with wind chills well below zero. However, after 12 days without a ride (twice on the bike at the ymca dosen't count in my book) I said the heck with it and decided to ride regardless of the weather. Didn't check the temp before I left but layered a bit more than usual. Started with biking shorts followed by the sports page of the state journal two pairs of tights, two prs of socks ,shoes, booties and toe covers for the bottom half. The top I covered with a long sleeve tee, a wool sweater, a down vest a windbreaker a skull cap a mostly full face stocking cap and a helmet and off I went. Rode with the wind going out knowing that I would have to face it on the return loop, however it really was more of a breeze and not at all bad. My water bottle froze up at mile twelve in spite of using hot water at the start and in retrospect the want ads might have been more appropiate than the sports page. It was, however, sunny and I was biking outside! Did 17 miles, not any to fast and other than being a little leg weary suffered no ill effects. Checked the temp when I got home to learn that it was 7 degrees F with a wind chill of -4, by far the coldest I've ever ridden. It's supposed to get up to 20 tomorrow so I'll give skipper a call and try for a few more miles.

Good For You!!
You're a brave soul venturing out in that kind of temp. I don't care how many news sections you include in your layering, that is cold weather.
You get my vote as rider of the week!!!

It's colder in SWWI than it is in SWMO. Supposed to be about 30 or so tomorrow, roads are dry so out we will go.

I didn't even consider going out today in the same weather. Too cold for me.

Supposed to be in the mid-20s tomorrow, warmest in many days. With some snow. But I have a commitment until 3, so I don't expect to get out again.

Are you in Monroe? Your SW WI throws me because Madison considers itself South Central WI and I'm south of Madison and almost due north of you. New Glarus is just 15 minutes from me, driving mostly south and little bit west. So if you are in SW WI, then I must be too!

I guess according to this map:
http://www.anythingwisconsin.com/southwestmap.htm

We are both just barely in SW WI.

I'm loving the later sunsets. So nice to have the sun in my face at 5:10.
