Bicycle Mechanics - Moving brake levers

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just bought a used Fuji road bike and the brake levers are in an odd position for me. After looking at the brake levers for a few minutes I can't seem to figure out how to loosen them and move them into a better position. The bike in question is a 1984 Fuji Touring Series III. The brake levers currently do not have hoods on them.
Thanks

Pull the lever down (ie, apply the brakes) and have a look inside the gap you just opened - I'm betting there'll be a big screw under there.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh . . . "I see" said the blind man. Thanks for that tip. My break levers are in a much better place now.
