gbcb, beautiful family. Brought me to tears. Is your grandma still living? She must have been so proud of you that day. That is such a beautiful pic. Thanks for sharing. My paternal gm (last gp living) turns 96 in June. :)

Here is Vega, pursuing her other passion: tennis. Granted it's circa late summer/early fall 2001, I still pretty much look the same. I remember distinctly when this photo was made. I was preparing for my second serve, and had already jacked up my right sleeve à la Agassi, when I stopped to smile for my beloved photographer. And, no, I did not footfault.

Thanks, VV. Yes, my grandma's still around, but it's been very hard to talk to her on the phone for some time now. Of course, there are good days and bad days, but it can be tough sometimes -- she's always been such a wonderful, strong person, and to see her having real difficulty remembering people close to her is very sad.

When I graduated from university in 2004, I stopped by her home for a few days -- even then (at 98!) she was still living in the same house my dad and his older sister had been born in! It was a wonderful visit -- she was in a great mood and told me all about her trips to the UK, India, Hong Kong, and Japan in the 50s, and about working in a mobile clinic in Northern Alberta in the 30s. I'm so glad I made that visit, but wish I had done more like it while in university.

Glad you liked the photos -- that was the first time in perhaps 15 years or more that we managed to get the whole family together for a picture. I always like visiting my dad's hometown, but this trip was particularly great.

Edit: How do you know Agassi wasn't jacking up his sleeve à la VV? :D

Thanks for sharing that, gbcb. My gm can hardly speak over the phone anymore, and it's difficult to understand her in person, too. <sigh> Nice that you had the chance to hear her stories. You must pass them down, you know....

liv rong, I used to smoke, too. And I loved it.

Looks like you are having way too much fun in your life to have to cut it short by age 50. Stop that smokin' shiat, bro'. I used to love it, too, but realized one morning when I awoke with lungs feeling that they were full of water that I should quit. And I was already 25!

Hope I didn't wait too long, as I'd already smoked probably 20+ pack-years.... Jes' saying, 'cuz I loves me my Foo'ers. :) I does. Don't think otherwise! Dammit.
