Hey guys,
I am currently a student in college in Washington and I want to do some riding around the moutains of the state. Nothing serious, but trailriding, some back country stuff, etc. I have talked to several bike shops and was steered in the direction of a Specialized Rockhopper, Jamis Dakota, Kona Caldera, etc. My price range is around up to $1000. I was talked away from Trek because I was told they manufacture their own parts, such as brakes and derailers, and so if a part broke, you had to take the bike a Trek dealer so they could get the parts. I hadn't heard of this, just curious if anyone else had. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!
