Hello members,
I've taken this survey and wanted to bring this to your immediate attention. Thus far, 3,645 respondents.

Let your VOICES be heard as cyclists, motorists, pedestrians, skaters or joggers.
About this Survey:
Anyone who completes the survey can see a summary of the results; we figure you're probably as interested in how and why other people ride as we are in you.
Most cycling surveys these days seem to be created by 'traffic safety' experts who want to find out 'how dangerous cycling is'. They never seem to want to find out how safe cycling is, or how convenient, comfortable, healthy, affordable, challenging, or cheering cycling is. They seldom ask why people cycle or how far they cycle, or what the overall effect of cycling is on people's lives. They usually ask 'where and how did you get hurt?' Even the ways in which they ask about crashes and injuries often seem somehow biased against cycling itself.
The people who drafted this survey are not highway engineers or professional traffic safety wonks, but we are CYCLISTS, and researchers into cycling issues. We have a passionate interest in road safety for cyclists, of course, and we did dedicate a couple of pages of our survey to finding out what cyclists think about their most memorable bike crashes. But most of our survey is about cycling, not about crashing.
This is because we think that cycling is mostly not about crashing -- it's about riding. While we're curious to know how you crash, (if you crash), we'd like to know a lot more about how you avoid crashing. But mostly we'd like to know how you ride, where you ride, how far you ride, why you ride.
Do you use your bike to haul heavy stuff, or do you just go out and charge up and down hills for the sheer joy of feeling fit? Do you make a living with your bike, or do you ride purely for fun? What kinds of bikes do you ride? Do you own more than four bikes? Do you commute through rush hour traffic in the Big Bad City, or spin along quiet country lanes? Are you 90 and still riding centuries, or 35 and riding a bike for the first time? Do you ride instead of driving, or do you drive to get to nice places to ride? Do you ride instead of taking the bus, or do you throw your bike on the bus? Inquiring minds want to know!
For all of us, cycling is an integral part of living. We sincerely want to know how cycling fits into and enhances your LIFE.
