Well, surprise, surprise the eagerly awaited revelations from www.gobikeworld.com (http://www.gobikeworld.com) which we were promised would arrive in October 2006, including info on new parts etc. has failed to materialise, not only that the link seems to have died altogether.
If you can afford a private detective to find a GoBike for you, you might have an excruciatingly long wait for any form of after sales service, info, spares etc.
The new Birdy would be a better bet @ mo!

Go Bike seems to be a nice idea. But as far as I know, that's all it is...

I really hoped the Gobike would (pardon the pun) make a go of it. It really is a pretty unique bike and it had a lot of curb appeal.

Being just now into folders. If they were to sell this in the states, it would fail, hard. People still think that they are just a novelty, or a toy. So the price should follow.

It's rerouting to a .mac page now, so it's possible they're just dealing with a server outage of some sort.

We had a velomobile on display at the booth of 1HP Cycles at the Montreal bike show last weekend and they had just received a shipment of go-bikes and carrying cases. Might want to check with them if you're looking for a go-bike or accessories.

What a joke. This bike is like vaporware from Microsoft. I can't recall every seeing one of the ever, anywhere while riding anywhere in the world I've been. The only one I know of that someone actually has is Chop.

A year ago I would have loved to have one but now it doesn't seem quite so innovative.

It CANNOT be that hard to put together a 20" wheeled bike with Brompton-ish folding capabilities. Why isn't there more atempts to do so?

Maybe because Brompton's (and the British court system's) concept of intellectual property goes beyond patent rights? (Mercbike)

It may not be too expensive to design and manufacture a bike like Brompton's. However, many companies could not afford lawsuits from Brompton in multiple countries which claim that they've violated Brompton's trademarked image, patents-be-damned.

Not too sure whether it is that easy from an engineering perspective. Moreover, I suspect that the market is pretty limited.
