This article has an amazing collection of resources about wooden bicycles (http://www.alternative-energy-news.info/wood-bicycles/). They've got pretty much every type of bicycle listed, with links to websites with more photos and information. Worth checking out!

Hello Mike
This post would be much more interesting if we would have numbers that compare engineering caracteristics of wood frames with modern aluminium, steel, carbon and titanium frames. Of course we can only compare frames used for the same porpose. The most basic of these caracteristics is the weight of a complete frame. Did you find any reference about the weigh of these frames?

i think this topic is VERY interesting! ive looked at everything i can find on the net about wood bike building including posting at this forum. im interested in wood as a material to build a gravity bike frame (www.gravitybike.com to see what im referring too) heavier is better in gravity sports so money could be saved in materials since i dont have to find lightweight/stong wood. also, since g-bikes dont use pedals the frame would not need to deal with the stresses of pedaling. since no one manufactures these frames (these bikes are usually modified 20" or 24" bmx frames) then a simpledesign could be built for less money than the cost of a quality, suitable existing metal frame (not including the cost of my tools)
im finishing up a few projects and im hoping that next fall i can start on my wood g-bike, any tips from anyone is appreciated. fast eddie outty

How strong are they, they also look like they would be heavy.
