My group was complaining Sunday on our ride because it was cold (about mid 50's F).
LOL
My group rode on Sunday and it was mid-50's and BEAUTIFUL!! Today snowing and I think around 15 degrees or so.
Tom I feel your pain. :)
Dude, draft the tractor!!!!! What a wimp.
ahhh, dont sweat it, Im not even riding today, took the day off
first time ever ive said screw it due to the weather, just dont feel like risking broken bones today, and Ive already had like 12 phone calls to do runs, looks like they will all be scheduled for tomorrow
I didn't ride this morning either. I logged about 45 minutes on the dreaded trainer. Gawd that sucks. Wind was gusting out of the north 20 -30 mph with snow/ice, and about 15 F. I can handle cold, and i can handle wind, and i can even handle snow and ice, but put them all together, and no thanks.

Where are the stud tires? You need a MTB Tom, then nothing stops you! (said from a place where the weather is boringly perfect all year round)

This can happen to guys that offer advice to snowbound cyclists from the frozen wastes of COSTA RICA!;)

This reason I can't ride today is that I broke a nail.

Tom, ever been to Fairmount to visit James Dean's gravesite? Something I always wanted to do. Is that eerie of me?

Not eerie, and we're going to do exactly that on our Summer Bike tour! It's about 60 miles from here.

I had a doctor's appt. Normally on a day like this my son would drop me off outside the gate at work with my bike, but today, I didn't wanna. It was 4 degrees and windy. Tomorrow and Thursday are probably lost, but hopefully Friday...

I would, could, and have!
Though I'm off work today. But I am riding my bike to a trailhead so that we can go snowshoeing this evening.
No, that's the reason you won't ride your bike today. :)
I love it when it snows like that!

Here are my reasons.
1. My real bicycle is stashed with for the winter in Central Maine.
2. If I had my bicycle here in Portland (ME), I wouldn't go out because of the current winter wind chill and
the coming snowstorm.
3. I would not work out on a stationary bicycle in the nearby health club as my workouts from the last
week has resulted in an embarrassing medical situation that I don't wish to mention on the internet.

I won't ride outside because it's only 46F and a little sprinkly.
But I will ride my trainer. :)
[Seriously, I won't ride outside 'til I get a new tire. I've given this one a real beatin' on the trainer, and don't trust it on the road.]

KT, please do not spoil this, let him keep riding the trainer on the driveway. He does not know any better.

Right now it's 25 F, winds at 25 gusting to 35, and off and on all day we've had 1/8 inch or so diameter sleet falling. Sleet at 25 to 35 miles an hour hurts. Forget riding.
Better get that trainer set up on the driveway then, so you can race Portis.
No snow to speak of here. Some flurries and sticking in spots.
But, I stopped by the store this morning and the watermeter had frozen & burst. I've been moving stuff & sucking up water all morning. The water is fixed and we have a handle on the cleanup, but the store is a mess. :)

ran out of roofing nails : need at least 200 . Usually put a few more in the front than the rear but
100 each is minimum.

I may actually get the Fat Tire bike out tomorrow! Depends on a couple of factors, like how deep it actually winds up!

What I wouldnt give to be there right now in all that glorious snow....
I was having second thoughts as I was eating my breakfast this morning. The weather man cautioned that skin can freeze in 60 seconds in these windchills. (-20F range) But I thought what the heck. That seemed exaggerated anyway based on what i've read.
So i had a pretty decent ride. 19 miles in one hour and 30 minutes. This wasn't bad considering the temp was 0 F with -15 to -20F windchill, and the fact that the roads were icey and the studs were on.

Dude, get a bigger helmet for when you gotta get all bundled up...that thing all teetering up there on the pointy lil top of your head will probably do more harm than good.
