Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Does anyone have any info on a Scapin made in the mid 80's that had Columbus aero tubing? It has the shift levers mounted on the top of the down tube.
Thanks.
maybe this is what you are looking for, and just look at that gold chrome frame...wow

Hey,
Don't blow this, I'm working on the components right now. If any of you want the frame, I'll be glad to pick it up for you. It's too small for me, and the wife would kill me if I bought another bike to flip.
Anyone interested in a 57cm Moser TK1 with fulll Chorus gruppo?
This guy is probably going "where in the world is all this interest coming from"....haha. So it was too small for me as well, he e-mailed me back. But whoever picks this up has to let us all know.

Someone should snap that up in a hurry...even to flip it. I've seen nice Scapins fetch $700+ and they were nowhere near as cool as that thing. That bike looks like the Nicest thing Scapin ever did...(looks like a Colnago Mexico Oro)

I'm trying too, maybe it's sold. I was going to nominate myself as 'numbskull of the day' for even asking about it here, no help from 3mnkys either.
If my wife even KNEW I was looking at buying a $320 bike, even for someone else, on Valentine's no less, I'd be a goner....

+1!
I just cashed my recent paycheck and would still have some $ to put in her Valentine!
But an extra $320 would make her even happier!! and I might get...._ _ _ _!
and all this after I scored some Campy hub, Mavic rim, 27" wheels for the Merlin yesterday!
($80, no shipping!):D
actually, he wanted $50, but I made it $80, just because it saved me time/frustration bidding on eBay.
And the wheels I've been watching have gone for more (WAY more) than that.
So good luck to all that are after that Scapin!
But if I hear back, I have the $ in my pocket!
and if somehow I DO end up with it, I'm mainly after parts. ;)

Hey, the bike fits my wife. I showed it to her (along with the dozen pics he sent) and she loved it! To think I thought she'd kill me for looking...
Please let the old guy who asked first get it. Respect your elders!

It's gone. Who got it. Thanks 3mnkys, for a lesson learned.

Yeah WHO?!? Fess up now so we can all hate you!!
Just kidding!
Whoever DID get it, got it good!;)
Veeery nice find!
and OFG, I know it's a hard lesson to learn.
BUY first, THEN brag!:D
and fear not! The C&V gods will likely shine upon you and you will find a Masi for $160!!
I've been after some nice 27" rims, and have been outbid on all of them!
So yesterday a friend sold me a pair of Mavic ModuleE rims laced to some Campy lo flange hubs w/skewers...$50!!!
I gave him $80....just cuz!:D
I bid more than that for just a front hub!!!! (and was still outbid!)
But now I'm all :D

Like I said, lesson learned. I was looking for info on the bike, had already worked out a deal for the components, which promptly fell through. I believe there is a thread for craigslist finds, which I have posted to and will continue to do so. When someone asks for info on a bike or a component, I will offer any help I can, and try not to be a deal breaker.
If you see an old fat guy on a slick vintage Guerciotti, tell him who you are, he'll probably race you for beer. Bring your credit card, he can put a few down!
my apologies again, I definitely should have posted to you directly, and let you work things out.....lesson learned.

my apologies again, I definitely should have posted to you directly, and let you work things out.....lesson learned.Does that mean you won't race senior citizens for beer?
No problem, any deal that's lost is a deal not to be had in the first place. Buddhist capitalism or something like that.
wobbling around on the new (old) road bike the past few days after using the Giant FCR for several months has been an experience....so racing would not be much of a competition for you...but my brother is a district manager for the local Bud distributorship
wobbling around on my new (old) Trek 1200 has been quite the experience the past couple days, especially after a couple months on a Giant FCR hybrid and really never having riidden a road bike before...so the competition would be a little one sided...but on another note, my brother is a district manager for a local beer distributorship
