I currently ride a Gary Fisher Tasajara mountain bike. I am quite heavy at 95 kg and lately I have taken to road riding so as to lose some weight and improve stamina.
I have fitted my Fisher with a pair of sliks and have seen a considerable diference. Now I am greatly tempted to buy a road bike.
1. Am I too heavy for a road bike?
2. I am not looking for something expensive. What would you suggest? I was considering Trek 1200, Bianchi Or Ideal

Thanx

You are not too heavy.

I weigh about 102 kg and have no problems, having ridden about 7,000 miles on a road bike las few years with no ill effects nor problems with the bike.

There have been several recent threads. Check out for one:

I started out riding a road bike when I was 260 LBS....Rode a Jamis Quest, very light steel bike (about 20lbs) and it cost about $1,000.00. This bike can take the pounding of your weight. Go here for specs:

FYI, after a summer of riding I was 180 LBS!!!!
