With clips? If you run clips you wont be able to get your foot in or out if the strap is tight. Not to mention those are heavy as hell.
Watch out for pedalstrike, if you're running fixed. You loose a lot of cornering clearance with those pedals, and the pins will dig into the pavement and fling you ass over teakettle.

you don't want your foot coming out when the strap is tight. that would be bad!!!
not to hijack
but
why you wanna get rid of the gr-9's?

those mosh pedals are goign to be a ***** when trying to slide your foot in and out with the pins, unless you screw them all out, which makes no sense.
just use GR9's if you want a big base or get some real pedals.
I do 180 skids, wheelstands, wheelies, leg over skids and 180 variations outside of the clips (on the back side of the pedals). I would pull all the pins out on the toeclip side of the pedal and leave the pins in on the underside to give me a nice tractioned flat area for tricks and such.
That's why I'm considering these.
The GR-9s are fine... just thinking of a possibly better option.

If you do it, report back on how well it works. This could become the next big thing.

You dont use your brain much do you?

I think you are the one with the misconceptions about toeclips here. When toeclips are set up properly it should be near impossible to get your foot out with the strap tightened.
Platforms like that with toeclips work pretty well with the pins in. By leaving them in you'll get a much better pedal/foot connection.

sounds like a good idea,
but of all the pedals out there i wouldn't recommend the mosh ones for a fixie.
something thinner, lighter, and cheaper: http://www.danscomp.com/465056.php?cat=PARTS
and they feel and grip very well.

i don't think he's going to be able to get clips on those pedals.

Wouldn't that make getting out of them for say putting a foot down at a light very annoying?

Yeah, but how would you even tighten the second strap? while your pedaling? I just always got them to a point where I could slip in and out while still being snug, but I ride clipless now so...

i tighten and loosen each strap at each stop and go. if i need to put a foot down, i reach down and tap the button on my toe straps. it loosens it and i pull my foot out. if i'm smart, i touch the button while slowing down - before i need to pull my foot out (foreskin. no wait. foresight).
not hard. and tight straps are what make clips and straps worthwhile.

for future reference; EVERY MANUFACTURED 3PC CRANK IS 9/16". period.
there may be some random craptastic ones that are not 9/16, but everything that you will buy i.e. sugino, profile, etc. is 9/16
