We're plan-ahead kind of people. We're signed up for the Solvang Century on the tandem & are now looking to April. Who's done the SOC century? Any pros, cons, critiques?

TIA!

Wow you two are something doing Solvang on the tandem  . My husband and I did Palm Springs 2 years ago on the tandem and I would say by the midway point he wanted me off :p He suggested I just unclip and put my feet up :D I was back there taking pictures, chatting with people, drinking water - you name it.. I even caught myself just daydreaming back there a couple of times....and then when I would start pedaling again he would just shake his head. :D Next time I will be more focused :) yeah right. He even dropped me off at IHOP that year and rode the tandem to the finish by himself. We are a class act.
We're doing the SOC too...hope to see you there. We should be in town Thursday evening - Sunday evening.
Any chance you're doing the Cinderella ride?

LOL on your tandem experience! I might be banned from the tandem (would that make it a "bannedem?") if I pulled that -- as it is, I'm occasionally called a sandbagger. I have to remind myself that he's just kidding...I think...;)

Not riding Cinderella; too close on the heels of Solvang. That was my first century ever last year -- hail, sleet, and rain be d*mned. Are you? I'll come down and wave. :p

I have'nt ridden it, but have heard rave reviews about the ride. Great scenery. I think I may be doing it this year.

Bannedem :roflmao: :roflmao: love it....yeah one of my friends out here in Vegas talked me into doing the Cinderella :( My husband is coming also but he has to find a good ride out that way - so if you know of any let me know. I can't wait for the Sea Otter it will be my first time there and it looks like a wonderful event.

Okay sandbagger I mean red rider :) see you there.

We have a ride about 50-54 miles up here in Waackyville we call the Lake Loop. Your hubby's welcome to ride it with us. Check out www.monticellocycling.org, click on "Rides" then choose "Lake Loop." We'd love the company!

I make up words -- it drives my family crazy -- they hardly play Scrabble with me anymore. :( Good thing I have a bike & nice weather.

You watching the Tour de California go over Cardiac? I don't want to see them motor over it at my average speed in the flats, so I'm probably going to watch them in Winters.

p.s. I'm an appraiser in Solano County-wonder if I've ever killed a deal of yours...;)

I did the SOC last year. Defintely save your energy, as the hardest section is right at the end of the route. And by hardest, I mean 3x harder than anything else on the route. The early part is flat (mostly) and very pretty. Be sure to stock up on supplies at the lunch stop, as the later rest stops were out of snacks and water by the time I got to them.

If your husband wants a ride not far from Livermore while you ride The Cinderella, he can check the Fremont Freewheelers site for rides that day.
