You play cowboys & indians? ;)
Ahhh... the "Order of the Arrow". I never pursued that particular clique when I was in Boy Scouts. Never was all that much of a joiner.
Wait wait just let me get position right!!!;) :D

it means that it means nothing to me.
You're in for a "Tomahawk Chop" then.
My brother was tapped when we were at a jamboree in Greece in 1970. We camped on the beach near the Aegean Sea for three weeks, it was heavenly.

I was initiated in the OA about 1971 or 1972. I really had a blast in scouts.

Oh right! Thats what that was. I was in the order of the arrow for 2 weeks before I said screw this and left. The next troop I joined didn't even do any order of the arrow stuff.

You're just here to cause trouble, aren't ya? Suggesting that the OA exploits native americans would be like suggesting that PETA exploits animals. (Well, maybe that's a bit extreme. . . )

BTW, I have no idea what that symbol is, and I STILL posted here. :) I'm such a rebel.

So. Wrong.
They called it BOY scouts for a reason. I was outta there with the quickness. I am a survivalist, and most of my troop's pansy camping adventures and silly projects were teh lame.
Give me a knife and send me out with nothing more than the clothes on my back. That's camping.

Hey Mr. Hardcore, you want to join the Girl Scouts?? For reals, if you can get ten little girls to finish their craft project without chewing holes in the drywall, I will be impressed.

Summer Camp merit badges
Wilderness Survival - learn to eat crickets.
Enviromental Science - A sure fire way to find out if you have A.D.D.
Wood Carving - Should be renamed finger carving. They should put the first aid merit badge class next to this.
Camping - anyone else find it funny this was offered at Summer Camp?
Personal Management - should be offered, but then again I remember many would blow their money at the trading post within the first 3 days.

Stupid boy scouts....they always got to do all the fun stuff. I used to get so jealous hearing about my brother's scout adventures...river rafting, rappelling, backpacking trips...:( All the "fun" I got to have was a few nature hikes at girls' camp and some lame songs around the camp fire. Oh yeah, and we all got to share our testimonies and bawl like babies. Woo hoo. Real survival skills right there.

I worked on summer camp staff. It was one thing to be a boy scout, another to work there. Every week we had at least 4 out of 200 kids get home sick. And from time to time, little bobby scout was getting taught how to tie knots by someone with a hangover.
Edit: so there were some that would booo hoo, and others that would be whining.

Bummer that you belonged to a lame Girl Scout troop. Mine was so active and we had a ball, we went rock climbing, rappelling, hiking, camping, canoeing...it was fantastic!

LUCKY!!!
I actually never did girl scouts. I figured all they did was sell cookies and crap. Girl Scouts were never very active in my area. The camp I speak of is one that the religion I was brought up in sent us to, so that we felt like we were more important or something. All the other activities we had consisted of preparing us to grow up, get married and become good wives and baby makers. :( That is awesome that you had those great experiences! Maybe I should have been a scout. Or at least dressed up like a boy and stowed away on my brother's trips. :p

Your camp doesn't sound like much fun at all!
I was really lucky growing up, I was a scout when I lived in Italy and that's where we got to do so much cool stuff. Seems like Europeans enjoy spending loads of time outdoors and young girls engaging in those activities didn't even to raise an eyebrow.

Wow, that sounds so neat! Growing up in Italy sounds truly amazing! I grew up in Utah, in a culture that would rather have their girls doing other things. It was pretty lame, but I'm making up for it now. I love being an adult! :D

I remember one of my classmates telling me how his fellow scouts stripped him naked, tied him to a tree and smeared honey all over him on a camping trip. I decided it'd be safer if I joined a street gang.
